Searching for an apartment
Q. What does selecting features do when I perform an apartment search?
A. Selecting features doesn't limit the number of results you will get with your apartment search. This feature just helps you sort listings based on your preferences. That's why we recommend you select every feature you want.

Q. What does the "price per" selection do on the apartment search page?
A. When you select price per unit the search results display the price for the whole unit. Therefore a 5 bedroom apartment may appear pretty pricey, but keep in mind, that's the price for the whole thing. If you select price per bedroom, you get exactly that. The price per bedroom. This doesn't necessarily mean that the property owner will let you have individual, per-person, leases, but it helps you compare all the listings together. When you click on a listing in the results you will be able to get more information, including whether or not the property owner allows per-person leases.

Q. The listing says the information is out of date. What does this mean?
A. When a listing says that the information is out of date it means that the property owner has not updated their listings for the upcoming school year. We still show the listing for your reference, but you should be aware that the information (like the rent) could be incorrect. This isn't always bad, as you may be able to use this information to aid you in negotiating the lease.

Q. Is there a way to save apartments so I can get back to them easily at a later time?
A. On each listing you can click on the "add to my apartments" button and save the listing. This will require you to log-in or create an account. You can also use your web browser's bookmark feature.

Q. The price I found for an apartment seems way too good to be real (like $200/month for a 4 bedroom apartment), what's up?
A. Every once in a while there are some unbelievably good deals out there. But, more likely one of two things has occured. Either the property owner mistakenly entered their per-bedroom price for the entire listing, or the property owner intentionally put a low price in their listing to get more people to see it. In any case let us know if you find a price that's wrong and we'll be sure to take immediate action.

Searching for a sublease
Q. How does the date selection work when searching for a sublease?
A. When you enter a date range in the sublease search our site returns all subleases that are listed as being available during that time. For example if you search for a sublease that is available between August 15th and December 31st you might get results that include subleases that are available from August 1st to July 31st of the next year. In this case the person who posted the sublease might not be interested in subleasing to you as you are only looking for a portion of the time. On the otherhand, the person who posted the sublease might be fine with subleasing to you and will just look for someone else to rent their apartment for the next half of the year.

Q. I ran across a sublease listing with offensive information. What can I do?
A. Let us know about the listing. We do not allow listings with offensive text or images and will take immediate action to remove the listing. Offensive rent on the otherhand is something that we can't do much about.

About your account
Q. When I create an account, can I use a fake email address?
A. We understand your concern for privacy and even use fake addresses ourselves on some sites. However, if you enter a fake email address and then request information from a property owner or sublease poster, they won't have a valid email address to respond to. Therefore we suggest you use a real email address. We won't send you SPAM and you'll only get the email that you want. We periodically delete accounts that have had mail "bounced back" to us because the email address was invalid.

Logging In
Q. I tried to log-in and it says that no account exists for that email address. What's going on?
A. If you're sure you're using the right email address to login, the password request doesn't work for that address and you didn't request to have your account closed then it's probably because you used an invalid email address and we closed your account. You can contact us if you would like us to investigate further.

Q. Why did nothing happen why I tried to log-in?
A. It's likely that you pressed the "enter" key rather than clicking the log-in button. The reason is that since there are several buttons on the page it's not known which button you meant to click by pressing the "enter" key.

Sending requests to property owners
Q. I sent a request to the property owner and have no heard back. What should I do?
A. If it's been longer than you would expect for a property owner to reply you can send another request through the site, or you could use the phone number that was sent to you with the confirmation email you got when making the request.

Posting a sublease
Q. Is there a cost to post my sublease?
A. Nope. None. Nada. Students already have to pay enough for other things. Paying to find someone to sublease shouldn't be one of them.

Q. How do I add photos and floorplans to my sublease?
A. Once you create your sublease listing you can add up to 6 images through the sublease manager.

Mapping Issues
Q. Part of the map is not displaying and is showing the text "We are sorry, but we don't have maps at this zoom level for this region". How do I fix this?
A. Try zooming in or out one level and then zooming back to the level where you were unable to see the map. This may clear up the problem. If that doesn't work try refreshing the page by clicking on the "refresh" or "reload" button on your web browser. If neither of these solutions work, use the "send feedback about this page link at the bottom of the page with the map to let us know.

Q. I selected a region of the map and am no longer able to zoom in or out or move the map. What can I do?
A. Click the shift key to unselect the map and you will then be able to use the map controls.

Your Privacy and SPAM
Q. What do you do with my email address and other information when enter it on this site?
A. We strive to be the best site for university specific apartment and sublease listings. A big part of that is respecting our users. That means we are only going to use your email address to send you notifications about changes to your account, confirmations when you send a request to a property owner or sublease poster, a monthly newsletter when you request it and on very rare occasions we may contact you to perform Quality Assurance. Be aware that when you request information from a property owner or sublease poster, your email address will be included in the message they receive. Though they have agreed not to use your email address for any other purpose other than replying to your request, we are not responsible for their actions. If you find that your email address is being used for more than replying to your request, please notify us so we can take immediate action. Property owners and sublease posters risk being banned from the site (or worse) if they do not comply with this agreement.

Q. I recieved a newsletter from this site, what's up with that?
A. We send a monthly newsletter that you either opted to receive when you created your account or at another time when you updated your preferences. If you no longer want to get it, then just go to the Account Manager page within the My Stuff section and change your preferences.

Q. I recieved SPAM from this site, what's up with that?
A. We don't send SPAM to our users or anyone else for that matter. If you did get SPAM that looks like it came from us, we would appreciate it if you would let us know. On one occasion a competitor sent SPAM that they made look like it came from us in order to discredit our service. We take this very seriously and pursue legal action against people and organizations that conduct themselves in this manner.

Q. Are the email addresses safe when I use the "Send to a Friend" function?
A. We don't use email addresses that are entered into the "Send to a Friend" page for anything besides sending your message. In fact, we don't even put our email sponsor's advertisement on those emails. We also send you a copy of the email so you can see exactly what your friends see.
